For customers located near Baltimore, Washington D. C., Philadelphia, Pittsburg and New York City the usual preference for customers is to pick up orders from our warehouse located at 26 N. State St. York, Pennsylvania located in south central Pennsylvania. We are at the most a few hours from any location in the mid-atlantic regions and Northeast major cities. We however request at least 24 hours notice for pick up as we have 3 warehouses and all products are not stocked in our main office and warehouse. To avoid having to make you wait any considerable time we ask to give us this advance notice.

Many times we are asked if there is sales tax on your order. For residents outside of Pennsylvania, those customers providing out of state addresses, presently do not pay sales tax and no sales tax is applied.

For any customer regardless of location we will ship your order to any location within the United States or Canada. Small items such as thermostats, filters, humidifiers and specialty parts are shipped UPS on individual orders but are combined with complete HVAC systems. For systems and large orders shipping is provided via common carrier. A common carrier is simply a trucking company with across the country service. The common carrier we use is ABF. ABF has terminal or shipping offices and warehouses across the United States and Canada. Because of the excellent service, low rates and superior handling with almost no damage claims ABF is by far the best carrier around. We have negotiated a significant discount with ABF due to the large volume of systems we ship weekly. All freight with ABF is sent collect meaning you do not pay the shipping charges until you receive your order. Common carrier shipments can be sent by two methods either to the terminal location of ABF closest to you or direct to your residence or business. The least expensive method of shipping is to the terminal closest to you. There is a same as terminal delivery for businesses with a loading dock. Otherwise a residence or home delivery shipment will have to be sent with a lift gate truck which can add additional costs. For terminal locations closest to you call or email us with your zip code. 

Here are some general examples of shipping costs. A furnace or boiler will costs approximately $122 to most locations for terminal delivery to points east of the Mississippi River. However to have that same furnace delivered to your door via a lift gate truck can cost $65 to $98 additional. For this reason 99% of customers elect to have terminal delivery. Remember you do not pay extra due to collect shipments as we have worked out this type of arrangement with ABF.  DESCO Energy does not post shipping costs because of the volatility of fuel costs and their ever changing costs. Fuel surcharges which were only 12% a short time ago are now 22% today and will most likely continue to rise. However when we provide a shipping quote the price will be within a few dollars of that quote providing shipping occurs with the next several days.

Important information you should know about shipping via common carrier. We will provide a shipping email that details the specific information abut your shipment and when you can expect it to arrive at your location as well as tracking information. A shipping email will be sent no more than 24 hours after your order is shipped. When your shipment arrives at the terminal you will be notified at the telephone number you provide us when placing your order. If your shipment is sent terminal delivery you will be expected to pick up your shipment within 24 hours of being notified by ABF. You can pay ABF in all forms including credit cards, personal checks or cash.

When you receive or pick up your shipment inspect all packages before accepting the shipment. You will want to remove all items from their packages and skid for inspection. If in the unfortunate and rare event you are told you cannot or do not need to inspect your shipment either tell the ABF representative you will not sign acceptance of the order unless they do permit inspection or ask to speak to their supervisor. What you are doing is looking for any hidden damages. It is a rare occasion we have a damaged shipment with ABF. If the damage is obvious accept only the items that are not damaged and refuse any damaged items. If the items are slightly damaged such as panel that can be easily replaced then it okay to accept the shipment but making a written description of the damages on the carrier's acceptance form. In the event you sign for the shipment and later discover hidden or other damages as a result of shipping it will be difficult if not impossible to file a claim. In the unfortunate and unlikely event your shipment is damaged you will then have to file a claim with the carrier for those damages. The carrier will investigate the claim and determine the damage and settle directly with you for the damage. This process can take 30 to 60 days.


DESCO Energy does offer an insurance option for shipping damage. For shipments that cost less than $1,200 the cost is $20 and for over this amount the cost is $40. If you do receive a damaged shipment DESCO Energy will replace the damaged item(s) within 7 business days and intervene on your behalf and handle the claim for restitution with the carrier eliminating any costly waiting period on your part. This shipping insurance however does not cover any hidden damages. Since nothing will cover hidden damages it is extremely important for you to inspect the equipment before signing for it's release from the carrier. If you feel the damage is minor then you can also sign for the shipment and make note of the damages on the acceptance form and settle later with the carrier or DESCO depending on your original option for coverage.
